Packing like a minimalist
I'll be headed to California tomorrow. Two weeks of traveling and I'm extremely proud to announce that I'm packing almost nothing! It's literally the clothes I'll be wearing, a pair of spare jeans, 4 sweaters, 4 t-shirts, underwear and socks. I might add, these are actually my clothes for a whole month, as I'll be going to Germany after!
Although I've only recently discovered Minimalism, over-packing was never an issue for me. A couple of years ago, my mom and I went to Hawaii for 3 weeks with only one (not too big!) backpack for the both of us. And there were still clothes I didn't wear, at all! So, I've always been a light packer, but this is still a record for me. Especially reducing my beauty products to 5 things is quite a big step for me.
And here are some key multi-purpose things that helped me keep it light:
I don't want to bring my laptop along. (Can't handle the extra concern of keeping that stupid thing safe.) However, I might want to write an email or an blog post or what not and, anyways, I need a keyboard for these kind of things. So, I got this foldable bluetooth keyboard. Yeay!! I can just lean my phone on it and type away.
I do own several "proper" 3-in-1 products (lips, cheeks, eyes kinda products). However, I chose this MAC lipstick to do the (better) job. I find that the 3-in-1 multisticks are rather sheer and creamy and don't last very long. I really don't want to touch up my makeup during the day and I feel this lipstick has so much more staying power and I really don't need marketing to tell me that I can also use it on my cheeks and lips. :)
Dr. Bronner’s 18-in-1 Pure-Castile Soap
18 in 1!! I've been wanting to try this "magic soap" for ages and now the time has finally come. This soap will be my makeup remover, face wash, shampoo, shower gel and laundry detergent. I have high hopes. I still can't believe how much space this is saving me in my suitcase. Magical indeed!
Red suede booties
I only wanted to pack one pair of shoes. And these are the chosen ones. Red suede booties. You might think they are not the most versatile shoes, but they are:
- They are super comfortable to walk around all day.
- They are warm enough and have enough grip to go for a one-day excursion to Yosemite.
- I'd like to think I'm fine wearing them for a night out at a restaurant or a bar. For me, they're dressy enough. *lol*
So, anyway, I couldn't think of any other shoes that would be appropriate for all of these occasions.
